Behind the Scenes: Building a Landing Page Template That Actually Works
What goes into a template that's flexible enough for any product but focused enough to convert.
When I started TryMakeSpot, I had a simple rule: every template must look good with real content, not just lorem ipsum. That means the spacing, typography, and color contrast need to hold up when you swap in a long product name or a weak testimonial.
I test each template with at least three different types of projects: a SaaS, a course, and a newsletter. If the layout breaks or the hierarchy gets muddy, I start over. The goal is a template that feels like it was made specifically for your product, even though it's generic.
The hardest part is keeping it minimal without making it boring. Every element has a job. If it's decorative, it goes. The result is a library that's small but battle-tested.
